90 Points & Silver awarded to our 2019 Viognier
We are proud to announce that our Sol Rouge 2019 Viognier received 90 Points & Silver from the American Fine Wine Competition!
Notes From the Winemaker:
From a neighbor’s vineyard in the Mayacamas Mountains, we continue to get excellent viognier grapes with intense flavors and structure from this high elevation of the vineyard. Our 2018 wine was made with a “non-oxidative” process capturing the wine’s unique aromatic qualities while keeping the wine crisp and fresh on the palate. Half of the wine was aged in stainless steel and did not go through malolactic fermentation, leading to a crisper, bright, and clean mouthfeel. The other half of the wine was aged in neutral French oak barrel and did go through malolactic fermentation, producing a wine that is fuller and richer in body. The combination of these two styles leads to a wine that is both crisp and clean while having a richness on the palate. Our 2018 Viognier starts off with a focused, mineral-layered nose with lingering peach and apricot notes. On the palate, the wine starts out crisp with minerals and spice and later exposes fruit notes of white peach and fruit cocktail in a rich, medium bodied mouthfeel supported by bright acidity which allows the wine to linger and dance on the palate in the finish. Although this wine can be enjoyed on its own, it is best accompanied with creamy cheeses, white sauces and a variety of seafood. Drink now and enjoy over the next 7 years.
