2016 Sol Rouge Gypsy Rouge

We are pleased to announce that our 2016 Sol Rouge Gypsy Rouge received a Gold Medal and 90 points from the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

“Our 2016 Gypsy Rouge is truly a reflection of the Sol Rouge Estate planting which is mostly planted with Grenache as well as other Rhone varietals. A blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsaut, Syrah, and Counoise all comes from the Sol Rouge Estate Vineyard and its Rhone varietal plantings. This Grenache based blend reflects the wine for which the estate vineyard was planted, mostly with Grenache and a series of other varietals found mostly in the Southern Rhone Region of France. The name embodies the spirit of the wine; fun, lavish, wild, free-willed, exciting and interesting. Exhibiting hints of lavender in the nose, our Gypsy Rouge evolves into a spicy mid-palate and finishes with bright berry notes of strawberry, dark cherry, and Asian spice. The result is a truly fascinating wine that you will enjoy drinking on its own or pairing with everything from fish, sushi and a wide variety meats from chicken, lamb to barbecue.”
