“As one of the primary components of the Sol Rouge Gypsy Rouge, our estate Mourvèdre is often more bountiful than desired for our blend, allowing us to produce a 100% Mourvèdre wine on its own. Each year, we plan to bottle a small amount of either, or both, Grenache or Mourvèdre, primarily for our wine club and mailing list members. The 2016 vintage gave us only enough grapes to produce 50 cases of 100% Mourvèdre. This wine models the classic Southern Rhone profile of deep black and blue fruit on the palate, mineral and earthly flavors, spice and a smooth, multi-layered lingering finish. This 100% Mourvedre varietal wine brings out the true characteristics of this unique and mysterious grape.”
