“The 2016 vintage produced another full crop of Cinsaut, leaving us with extra wine after producing the Gypsy Rouge blend. Much like our Mourvedre, our Cinsaut is a limited release wine produced only in years with a bountiful crop. Since this block is at the peak of our terrace block with hillside greater than a 50% slope, a bountiful crop is still less than 2 tons/acre. This aggressive hillside planting of Cinsaut produces smaller, tighter clusters with smaller berries, producing a more intense, spicier wine than that of most Cinsaut wines. This Cinsaut is probably our darkest to date in the glass with a nose that exhibits aromas of rose petal, raspberry and red cherry. A multi-layered palate shows red berry fruit layered with Asian spices which linger in the finish. This wine pairs well with a lamb and Mediterranean foods. Drink now and enjoy over the next 5 years.”
