| Our New WineA Bordeaux Inspired Blend |
|
|
|
---|
|
| | | When we planted our vineyard back in 2006, we planted Cabernet Franc specifically to make this wine – a Bordeaux inspired Left Bank blend. Twelve years later, with much success with our Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc single varietal bottlings, we finally produced a red blend from our Bordeaux varietals called simply Mélange Rouge – Red Blend in English. A dark ruby garnet in color reveals fragrant aromas of blueberry, cassis, and black currants with violet notes. The palate is rich and full-bodied with savory blueberry, raspberry and black currant fruit flavors with hints of cedar. The wine is well structured with amazing concentration and firm ripe tannins that progress into a long 45+ second finish of dark fruit and hints of vanilla. |
| 94pts & Cellar Selection - Wine Enthusiast A perfectly balanced, hearty blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Cabernet Franc. Find vivacious aromas and flavors of black cherry, black plum, prune, cacao, roasted coffee, vanilla, nutmeg, black pepper and fennel. Course, grippy tannins are well met by fruit concentration and balanced by a solid acidic backbone. Oak tones are well-integrated. Enjoy now or cellar. Best at least through 2028 and probably beyond. – Stacy Briscoe |

| | 90pts - Wine Enthusiast In 2019, our Grenache was superb, having an extremely long hang time as it was our last varietal picked at the vineyard. Our Gypsy Rouge remains mostly Grenache, but, in 2019, this wine has a substantial percentage of Mourvedre and Cinsaut, showcasing the elegance and layers created by these Rhone varietals. The name embodies the spirit of the wine: fun, lavish, wild, free-willed, exciting and interesting. In the nose, our Gypsy Rouge exhibits bright red fruit and rose pedals. On the palate, the wine starts with a mouthful of bright strawberry fruit which evolves into a mid-palate of black cherry fruit with layers of cloves, ash and minerality supported by very fine, softly gripping tannins. The wine finishes with hints of basalt and black pepper with lingering tannins bringing focus to the finish. | |

| | 92pts & Gold Medal - Amer. Fine Wine Our 2019 Zinfandel is produced from grapes at our estate vineyards from vines planted with clippings from the “old vines” at the famed Beatty Ranch in Howell Mountain. The unique “Howell Mountain” clone allows our wine to exhibit many of the characteristics of other wines from old vine Howell Mountain Zinfandel vineyards that share this clone. In the glass, this wine exhibits aromas of black cherry cola notes, a common characteristic of other wines from the old vine Zinfandel vineyards of Howell Mountain. On the palate, the wine has dark cherry fruit with integrated spices of black and white pepper, followed by a medium-long finish of earthy minerals with a hint of cola in the finish. With its balance and structure from the fine tannins, this Zinfandel pairs well with food that is spicy, including barbecue and can be enjoyed now and over the next 5-7 years. | |

| 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Hills | |
| 94pts & Gold Medal - Wine Enthusiast In 2018, our Cabernet Sauvignon produced a nice balance crop with an even berry set, producing some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon that we’ve seen to date from our vineyard. We utilize three different cabernet sauvignon clones in this wine: Clone 4 that provides the plush red fruit, Clone 6 that provides the mid-palate spice, and Clone 337 (our favorite) which provides the classic Bordeaux focus and structure. This Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits the classic aromas of cassis, licorice, and dark currant fruit with a slight hint of vanilla toast from the French oak. It is rich and full-bodied with sweet tannins, a multi-layered mid-palate of dark red and black berries, and a long finish with hints sweet vanilla and cassis. The balanced fruit and tannic structure of this wine will benefit 3-4 years in the cellar and will age well over the next 10-15+ years.

| | Our 2019 Gypsy Blanc is a proprietary white Rhone-style blend consisting of Roussanne, Viognier, Marsanne, and Grenache Blanc. Modeled after the great white blends coming from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region of France, this wine stays true to blends coming from great producers like Château La Nerthe, where Roussanne (versus Grenache Blanc) is the dominate varietal in the blend. One the nose, the wine exhibits notes of hazelnuts and honeysuckle. On the palate, a quick crisp citrus fruit supported by this wine’s acidity is quickly followed by rich pear and peach fruit with underlying mineral characteristic that present layers on the palate from this wine. The finish is supported by bight acidity that produces movement and an interesting mouthfeel and finish. | |

| | Our 2019 Petite Sirah follows our record setting 2018 Petite Sirah which received the highest rating ever from a major wine reviewer for any Lake County wine – 97 points. This wine is an exceptional follow-up with dark, dense, and glass staining wine with a nose filled with notes of red and black fruits, plum, and spices. From the mid-palate through to the finish, this wine has notes of cinnamon and mocha and excellent tannic structure suggesting its outstanding aging potential. So deep in purple, it’s almost black in appearance. This classic and powerful Petite Sirah retains a gritty, yet elegant texture in mouth. It can be cellared for the next 2-3 years and enjoyed over the 10+ years. | |

| | Much like our Mourvedre, our Cinsaut is a limited release wine produced only in years with a bountiful crop. Since this block is at the peak of our terrace block with hillside greater than a 50% slope, a bountiful crop is still less than 2 tons/acre. This aggressive hillside planting of Cinsaut produces smaller, tighter clusters with smaller berries, producing a more intense, spicier wine than that of most Cinsaut wines. This Cinsaut has a rich ruby color in the glass with a nose that exhibits aromas of rose petal, raspberry and red cherry. A multi-layered palate shows red berry fruit layered with Asian spices which linger in the finish. This wine pairs well with a lamb and Mediterranean foods. Drink now and enjoy over the next 5-7 years. | |
