Gold Medal & 90 Points awarded to our 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon

We are pleased to announce that our Sol Rouge 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon received a Gold Medal & 90 Point rating from the American Fine Wine Competition!

In 2016, our estate Cabernet Sauvignon produced a nice balance crop with an even berry set, producing some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon that we’ve seen to date from our vineyard. We utilize three different cabernet sauvignon clones in this wine: Clone 4 that provides the plush red fruit, Clone 6 that provides the mid-palate spice, and Clone 337 (our favorite) which provides the classic Bordeaux focus and structure. This Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits the classic aromas of cassis, licorice, and dark currant fruit with a slight hint of vanilla toast from the French oak. It is rich and full-bodied with sweet tannins, a multi-layered mid-palate of dark red and black berries, and a long finish with hints sweet vanilla and cassis. The balanced fruit and tannic structure of this wine will benefit 3-4 years in the cellar and will age well over the next 10-15+ years.
